What is ChefZone?

ChefZone is our newly opened Cash & Carry Wholesale Store that is open to the public with a primary focus on catering to restaurants. We provide restaurant quality food and equipment to open up your dream restaurant and meet your everyday foodservice needs! Our ChefZone store is located near the airport on Ualena Street.

Application Process Questions

What is a pallet test?

Our pallet test is a physical assessment of down-stacking a pallet of dry goods (i.e. noodles or rice) and re-stacking to another pallet. This test is evaluated on the following criteria, (1) Lifting Technique, (2) Loading Pattern, and (3) Time.

Why do I need to participate in a pallet test?

Working with our products at Y. Hata requires physical strength and stamina, but the pallet test also helps to ensure that you are conducting your job safely.

What warehouse positions require a pallet test?

The following positions that require a pallet test include Container Un-loaders, Forklift Operators, Night Order Selectors, and Drivers,

What is the time requirement for the pallet test?

The time requirement for all warehouse positions is 18 minutes. The time requirement for all drivers is 20 minutes.

What is the cart-to-cart test for a position at ChefZone?

A cart-to-cart test involves how fast and safe you are able to move products from one cart/flatbed to another. This test is not as strenuous as the warehouse pallet test; however it is evaluated on the same criteria as the pallet test for warehouse positions.

What ChefZone positions require a cart-to-cart test?

The following ChefZone positions that require a cart-to-cart test include ChefZone Stock Clerks, ChefZone Cashiers, and ChefZone Checkers.

What are the time requirements for the cart-to-cart test?

The time requirement for ChefZone positions is 6 minutes.

Can I re-take the pallet test?

If you were unsuccessful at passing our pallet test, there is a 7 day waiting period before a test can be re-done. An applicant does not need to re-apply to a position in order to re-take the pallet test. Upon completion of the 7 day waiting period, please contact our recruiter to schedule your re-take test.

How should I dress up for the pallet test?

We invite you to dress comfortably for this test. Please be sure to wear close-toed shoes. Slippers and close-toed sandals are not allowed. If you own steel-toed shoes, we ask that you wear them.

What if I have my interview and pallet test on the same day?

We admire your willingness to make an impression for your interview; however the pallet test requires that you dress casually. The interviewing supervisor is well-aware that you have completed the pallet test prior to the interview. We do not require you to be dressed in business casual.
